Gaming Community Benefit Fund Grant for club

Punter tax to aid Noosa Malibu Club

Noosa Malibu Club is well positioned to continue its work with local youth and charities following a generous funding support grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

The Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund has provided $18,549 for the club’s purchase of a trailer, computer, digital camera and beach event equipment. NMC president Paul Winter said the support would better enable the club to conduct its regular competitions and youth and charity initiatives. “This fantastic contribution will go a long way towards making our coaching programs world class,” Mr Winter said.

Creators of the Noosa Festival of Surfing, now licensed to USM Events, presenters of the Noosa Wrecks and Relics, the world’s leading seniors surfing event, and regular contributors to charity, the Noosa Malibu Club also focuses on training young surfers in the ancient art of longboarding. Provision of funding for a new waterproof digital camera would assist in the club’s junior coaching, Mr Winter said.

The Noosa Malibu Club will be celebrating its good fortune, and first contest of the year 2008-9 at Main Beach, Noosa on Sunday, July 20 followed by the 2007-8 club presentations at Lions Park Noosa. The club will also use the occasion to hand over funds raised during the year for the Disabled Surfers Association and Sea Shepherd.
